The Hill Youth Group

theHill
The Hill is a ministry of Willo-Hill Baptist Church for students 7th through 12th grade. Our primary meeting time is Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 pm. Our goal is to see teens grow in their faith and commitment to Christ. We want them to be salt and light to their generation, a city on a hill.

Matt. 5:14,16

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden…. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

The Hill is focused on:

The Word & The Way

God’s Word is our focus. We encourage teens to bring their Bibles and a teachable heart. On Wednesday’s and Sunday’s the primary reason we meet is to “grow in our faith and commitment to Christ”. This can’t be done apart from the Word of God.

Evangelism is a focus of The Hill Student Ministries. As a ministry of the local church we share the calling to “go” (Matt. 28) share the life changing message of the gospel. We desire to see young people saved as well as develop a heart for the unsaved around them.

Discipleship is a focus of The Hill Student Ministries. As a ministry of the local church we share the mandate to make disciples (Matt. 28). We desire to see young people grow in their relationship with the Lord through prayer, Bible study, Scripture memory, and ministry involvement. Discipleship is also accomplished through mentoring. Our adult youth staff seeks to mentor students through small group and one on one settings.

Ministry is a focus of The Hill Student Ministries. As a part of the local church we share the responsibility to use our gifts for the edification of the body. We desire to see students use their gifts and talents in variety of settings. (Eph. 2:10)
Fellowship is a focus of The Hill Student Ministries. As students grow closer to Christ they will grow closer to other Christians. (1 Jn. 1:7) We seek to create an environment where teens, whether new to the group or not, feel they belong. The Hill seeks to be a place where teens can see first hand the joy of being a part of the family of God. We pray unsaved teens will see our love for one another and in turn seek God’s love for them.

Worship is a focus of The Hill Student Ministries. Worship is the lifestyle of a spiritually mature Christian. (Rom. 12:1) This is why we provide opportunities for service. God’s Word says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31). No matter what we do as a youth group we do if for the glory of God. Scripture, also, commands God’s people to, “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with a joyful songs” (Ps. 100:2). It also commands we, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph. 5:19,20). Most teens love music; and God wants us to show Him we love Him through our lives. Therefore, it only makes sense that we would show God we love Him through music.

This focus gives direction and purpose to all we do. We strive to provide a balance of activities which involve opportunities for evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship and worship.
